Recently, March of Dimes announced that world-class athlete Allyson Felix has joined the Celebrity Advocate Council in support of the organization’s advocacy for healthy mommies and babies. Felix, who is the recipient of 25 medals from the Olympics and World Championships track and field events, held her own Facebook Live virtual conference on May 7 entitled “It Starts with Mom Live.”

The Start with Mom campaign is March of Dimes’ way of providing mommies and mommies-to-be with tools and resources during their pregnancy and delivery. During her talk, Felix recalled how she nearly lost her life while giving birth to her daughter who was 32 weeks premature at the time. She said, mommies never have to face the setbacks they face simply because they have become mommies. Pregnancy and maternal-related complications, including premature deliveries, are still rampant to these days.
